About Passport Mates

Your trusted resource for international relationship advice and cultural guidance

Our Mission

At Passport Mates, we believe that successful international relationships are built on understanding, respect, and cultural awareness. We're dedicated to providing Australian men with the knowledge and support they need to navigate relationships in Southeast Asia.

We understand the struggle that modern men have finding life-partners in Australia's contemporary divorce-culture. Approximately 70% of divorces in Australia are initiated by the woman of the relationship, with men left usually bewildered. Many Australian men for decades have looked to Asia for greener pastures, where family values and staying-together is the norm.

Our platform offers comprehensive advice on dating culture, customs, traditions, and relationship dynamics across 17 countries in Asia and the Pacific, from the Philippines and Thailand to Japan, Korea, and beyond. We're not a dating site, we're the most comprehensive educational resource and community support system, and an absolute essential for single Aussie men making this journey.

Whether you're just curious about Southeast Asian culture, planning to travel, or already in a relationship, Passport Mates provides the insights and guidance you need to build meaningful, respectful connections.

Jeff Davis

Jeff Davis

Southeast Asia

Jeff has lived between Sydney and Southeast Asia for more than twenty years. A first-hand survivor of Australia's divorce culture, he met his wife of 22 years in his mid-thirties, migrated to the region and raised two kids there. He writes most of our Filipino-focused as well as our relationship-building guidance. His advice is grounded, calm, and sometimes painfully blunt about the real work of building a cross-cultural family.

John has spent fifteen years between Brisbane and Southeast Asia and was one of the early Aussies in the region's growing expat scene. He met his wife there, speaks decent Vietnamese, and writes most of our Vietnam, Cambodia, and travel-logistics material. He has also lived and worked as a management consultant in Hong Kong and Japan and was an early digital nomad.
